    • Empire: Total War The Battle of Gulnabad 1722 Afghanistan - Human VS Persia - PC History - Provided By Wikipedia The Battle of Gulnabad (March 8th, 1722) was a battle fought between military forces from Afghanistan, and the Persian Empire, specifically the Persian Safavid Empire. The battle resulted in Afghanistan, under the Shah Mahmud, controlling much of Persia. Persian Shah Hussain was taken captive during the battle. This resulted in the once wealthy and powerful Persia falling into anarchy, with their cities being looted, their women of prominent families being married off to powerful men from Afghanistan, with bloodlines becoming blurred. It further cemented the eventual fall of the Persian Empire. One account of the battle described the Persian Army as being beautifully outfitted, with lavish horses and uniforms, and far outnumbering the Afghan forces. On the contrary, the Afghan forces were described as being in loose formations, many with little to no clothing, very few in anything that appeared to be a uniform, hungry and in need of equipment. However, it would be the desperate Afghan forces that won that day. Although numbers and casualty reports of the actual battle are not known beyond some doubt, in the siege that followed, over 80000 Persians died. It was following the battle that the Afghans laid siege to the Persian city of Isfahan for six months, after which they took the capital of the Persian Empire.
