The diplomat remains unconscious after an additional procedure to aid circulation after the initial surgery, the State Department said. Holbrooke, special US representative on Afghanistan and Pakistan, is in critical but stable condition, the official said, adding he is getting "fantastic care" at George Washington University Hospital, just down the street from the State Department. It is the same hospital where Ronald Reagan was taken after being shot in 1981. Holbrooke was taken to the hospital Friday after feeling ill at the State Department. His surgeon continues to meet with the family to gives frequent updates. Holbrooke "is receiving great support from a broad and growing community of family and friends," this official says.
